The challenge
A care software company runs a patient care platform used locally and in the UK. It wanted to add data from sensors in a patient’s home to the patient record, so carers could see how someone was doing between visits and be alerted when something was wrong.
What we did
- Designed the end-to-end architecture: devices, radio network, network core and integration into the care platform.
- Selected multisensors (temperature, humidity, light and motion) and open/close sensors for doors, fridges and medicine cabinets, plus GPS alarm pendants with an SOS button.
- Assessed connected medical devices and ran a device request for proposals for them.
- Set out the connectivity options: an operator network, our own LoRaWAN core, or a private network.
- Planned the proof of concept, its success measures and the path to production.
The result
A clear, costed route for adding home sensor data to patient records, starting with a small proof of concept and measured against agreed success criteria.
