The challenge
A property operator needed to recharge electricity fairly to the occupants of individual units. Readings were taken by hand, bills were slow to produce, and time-of-use tariffs made the sums hard to get right.
What we did
- Connected the units’ electricity meters so readings arrive automatically.
- Built consumption reporting on our IoT platform, with each unit’s usage split by tariff period.
- Added off-peak and time-of-use tariff handling, so each kilowatt-hour is charged at the right rate.
- Produced monthly bills, and checked them against the supplier’s own invoice so the totals reconcile.
The result
Accurate, timely bills without anyone reading a meter, and a clear audit trail when a figure is questioned.
