The requirement

Manual meter reading is slow, expensive and often estimated. Water companies lose a significant share of what they treat to leaks, and regulators expect that to come down. Landlords and facilities managers need sub-metering to bill fairly and to spot waste.

Our approach

LoRaWAN meters, or readers fitted to existing meters, send a reading every 15 minutes to an hour, for years on one battery. On top of the readings we provide:

  • leak detection from continuous night-time flow, often long before a bill or a damp patch;
  • tamper and reverse-flow alerts;
  • consumption reporting by property, block or zone, and demand profiles for planning;
  • sub-billing: readings turned into monthly bills, including time-of-use and off-peak tariffs.

We have developed and tested decoders for widely used LoRaWAN water meters and readers, and we run metered billing on our own platform. The data can also go straight into your billing or asset system over an API or MQTT.

Devices we use

  • LoRaWAN water meters
  • Ultrasonic water and heat meters
  • Pulse and M-Bus readers for existing meters
  • LoRaWAN gas meter modules

We work with certified devices from many makers and choose the right one for each building. See the hardware we work with.
